NLC/TUC STRIKE: BAUCHI STATE WORKERS FOLLOW SUIT                                                                                    14-11-23

By Sadiq Aminu                                                   In Bauchi State, Public and Civil Servants have joined their counterparts across the country in the ongoing nationwide strike following the alleged recent brutalization of the National President of Nigeria Labour Congress NLC comrade Joe Ajaero in Imo State.

Our correspondent Isiyaka Ismail Wunti who monitored the situation in the state capital reports that most of the Ministries, Departments and Agencies including the State and Federal Secretariats as well as Banks and other financial institutions are closed with few workers who were denied access to their offices remained stranded.

However, Hospitals and essential service workers are not affected by the industrial action as Doctors and other medical service personnel were busy attending to patients at Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital and the State Specialists Hospital.

Speaking to Africa 247 on the position of the labour unions, the state NLC Chairman Comrade Dauda Shu’aibu who said the strike was in solidarity to the brutalized National President described the incident as unfortunate.

Comrade Dauda Shu’aibu listed some of the demands by the organized labour to include immediate removal and prosecution of Imo State Commissioner of Police and the officer who spare headed the illegal arrest of the NLC National President, compelling the State Government to pay all the stolen properties belonging to innocent citizens as a result of the incident.

Others according to comrade Dauda Shu’aibu are settling the Medical Bills for the National President and other people affected by the attack and the need for Federal and Imo State Governments to apologize to the victims.
