POPULAR KWARA MARKET GUTTED BY FIRE 23-11-23
By Sadiq Aminu A midnight rampaging fire has gutted the popular Oja Tuntun multipurpose market in Ilorin metropolis, Kwara state.
The fire, which reportedly started around 10:30 pm, razed down no fewer than 15 shops in the process.
It was gathered that Oja Tuntun market has about 1,072 shops, 984 stands and 27 warehouses.
Confirming the incident
the Head of Department (HOD), media and publicity of the Kwara State Fire Service, Hassan Adekunle, said the damage was minimal.
He said the fire service’s prompt response helped save commodities and property valued at over N25 billion naira.
The state Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq during his sympathy visit to the scene of the fire incident applauded efforts of the firemen in managing the situation.
