NIGER STATE GOVERNOR PRESENTS 613 BILLION NAIRA 2024 BUDGET PROPOSAL TO THE STATE ASSEMBLY 19-12-23
By Sadiq Aminu Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umar Bago has presented a budget estimate of over Six Hundred and Thirteen billion naira for the 2024 fiscal year to the State Assembly.
The budget is higher with over Three Hundred and Seventy billion naira than that of 2023 which was Two Hundred and Forty Three billion naira.
The 2024 budget prepared based on the Economic and Fiscal Update Strategy, has Over Four Hundred and Sixty Four billion naira as Capital Expenditure representing 75.% of the document while One Hundred and Forty Nine billion naira representing 24.% stood as the recurrent expenditure.
In the sectorial breakdown of the budget, the Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Renewal sector, has the highest allocation of N220.6 billion naira which represents 42% of the entire 2024 budget estimate.
Furthermore, Education got Seventy Six billion, Agriculture Forty Three billion, Health Forty Two Billion naira with Law and Justice having the lowest estimate of Two-Point Seven billion naira.
Presenting the document tagged Budget of the Future before the State House of Assembly for Approval, Governor Mohammed Umar Bago said financing would be from Statutory Allocation, Value Added Tax, Internally Generated Revenue, Excess Crude Revenue, loans and grants amongst others
He expressed optimism that the budget would address the immediate needs of the State and also serve as the road map for a visionary twenty -year journey as captured in the “Niger State Future Initiative.
The Speaker, of the State House of Assembly and Member representing Mariga constituency, Abdulmalik Sarkin-Daji, gave an assurance that the 10th Assembly would properly screen and approve it’s passage within one week.
