ANAMBRA STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY PASSES THE STATE’S 2024 BUDGET APPROPRIATION BILL OF N410B 22-12-23
By Sadiq Aminu The passage followed the adoption of the report of the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation during plenary in Awka.
Presenting the report on the floor of the house, the Chairman House of Assembly committee on Finance and Appropriation , Mr Ejike Okechukwu said the budget size was retained as presented by the Governor.
He said the capital expenditure pegged at N313,930,288,526 (77 per cent) and the recurrent expenditure which is the sum of N96,201,936,746, (23 per cent) remained the same as presented.
According to him, the committee invited the heads of ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs), for bilateral discussions and thoroughly scrutinized the 2024 Budget draft.
He noted that there were few changes and adjustments based on the needs of the different MDAs but they still fit into the budget heads.
The Speaker of the House, Doctor Somtochukwu Udeze, who presided over the plenary commended the committee for doing a good job during the bilateral discussions.
Doctor Udeze thereafter put it to voice vote where the law makers unanimously adopted the the 2024 budget.
After the house passed the bill, the Speaker directed the Acting Clerk, Mr Okechukwu Nwobi, to send a copy to the governor for his assent.

The House adjourned plenary to Jan. 16, 2024.
