KANO INTRODUCES ANNUAL STATE COUNCIL OF EDUCATION TO REVIVE SECTOR 16-01-24
By Sadiq Aminu The Kano State Government has introduced annual State Council of Education meeting aimed at reviving the education sector.
The State Commissioner of Education Alhaji Umar Haruna Doguwa made the disclosure during a management meeting with Senior Staff of the ministry held in Kano.
This was contained in a statement signed by the director public enlightenment state ministry of education Balarabe Abdullahi Kiru and made available to Africa 247 in Kano.
According to him, members of the council includes prominent education retirees across the state whose duty is to assist government with fruitful advice in addressing challenges facing the education sector.
The commissioner explained that, the move is part of the present administration’s efforts to revitalize the education system, through team work and cooperation.
”This is a new step we are taking to bring back the lost glory of the state education sector. Every year, the state council of education meeting would be conducted comprising notable people who are professional in the field to discuss and bring solutions to the numerous problems facing education in the state ” he said.
He stressed that, the ministry would also introduce what he called departmental assessment,where activities of each department would be reviewed and assessed after every three months to enhance service delivery.
Doguwa pointed out that, the ministry would come up with new programme tagged ‘ Bring Back Your Chair ‘ whereby government would work closely with Schools old Boys associations to make sure that, every old student donates at least one chair to his former school.
The Commissioner hinted that, the present administration of Abba Kabir Yusuf, is determined to make Kano retain it’s position as pacesetter in education, among it’s counterparts in the country.
Doguwa said, the state would continue to come up with several policies and programmes targeted towards general upliftment of the education sector.
” We have so many plans put in place to bring changes to our education system that will make it worthy of emulation by other states across the country, we have the potentials and all the capacity to do that. what we need to do is to feel free and join the crusade of reviving the sector ”
He therefore charged the staff to be punctual and dedicated to their duties, assuring that every staff would be given full opportunity to do his work without interference.
During the meeting, staff of the ministry suggested ways on how government could improve the education sector.
