ARMY REITERATES COMMITMENT TO ENDING ALL FORMS OF CRIMINALITY                                                         27-01-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                       The Nigeria Army has expressed its willingness in the maintenance and sustenance of peace in all troubled parts of the country.

The chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Toaheed Lagbaja gave the assurance when he visited the Governor of Plateau State Caleb Mutfwang while on an operational tour of security operations in the State.

Following the recent spate of attacks in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State, there has been frequent calls for the removal of the Army from the affected areas by residents who accuse them of not doing enough to stem the attacks

It therefore became imperative for the top brass of the Army to visit the state and once more, reassure the people of its readiness to protect them.

The Chief of Army Staff, Liutenant General Toaheed Lagbaja explained that the visit to correct operational lapses observed and to inform the Governor that new set of troops have been deployed with a instruction to operate within the mandate given to them.

The Army Chief called on the residents of the state to use sort code 193 to put calls to the army headquarters and report acts of perceived Injustice.

Responding, Governor Caleb Mutfwang expressed satisfaction with the visit and stressed on the capability of the Army Chief to address all the security challenges bedeviling the state and country.

He also pledged to use the proper means of communication to report bad eggs amongst the troops.

The plateau State Governor while promising to provide the army with the needed support also advocated the need for an improved civil military relations in order to boost the confidence of the people.

The Chief of Army staff was accompanied on the visit by the GOC 3 Armoured Division and various Defence management team Chiefs.
