OPEN UP NATIONAL FOOD RESERVE, HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES TELL FEDERAL GOVERNMENT                                                                                 06-02-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                     The House of Representatives has called for urgent intervention by the Federal Government to address the high Price of Food and high cost of living in the country.
A member from Ogun State Dr. Isiaka Ibrahim in a motion of urgent public importance emphasized that the economy situations in the country was getting worse as prices of things are getting unbearable.
The Lawmaker appealed to the Federal Government to open up the National food reserve as well as the importation of grains and other agricultural products as a short term measure to increase food production and improve distribution to reduce the hardship being faced by Nigerians.

Dr. Ibrahim stressed that if urgent measure was not taken, the recent protests in some parts of the country occasioned by high cost of living may escalate to other parts of the country.
Seconding the motion a member from Borno State, Ahmed Jaha, said Nigerians are going through serious hardship which required serious and urgent intervention.
The Lawmakers tasked the economy team of president Bola Ahmed Tinubu to intensify effort to cushion the situation being faced by Nigerians.
