By Sadiq Aminu                                                      The Ministry of Women Affairs has distributed solar-powered home systems to families residing in selected Local Government Areas within Lagos and Akwa Ibom States.

Mrs. Uju Kennedy Ohanenye, the Minister, explained that the effort aligns with the Renewed Hope agenda, aimed at uplifting the lives of rural people and enhancing energy accessibility.

According to a statement by the Minister’s Special Assistant Media, Ohaeri Osondu, the pilot program is set to expand to include Kogi, Enugu, Anambra, Imo, Katsina, Kano, Borno, Adamawa, and Kwara States, in collaboration with the Rural Electrification Agency under the Federal Ministry of Power.

The program aims to benefit 500 households nationwide.

Furthermore, the initiative intends to empower women by providing them access to various solar-related opportunities, including manufacturing, installation, maintenance, and entrepreneurship.
