ASUE IGHODALO WINS EDO PDP GOVERNORSHIP PRIMARY ELECTION 22-02-24
By Sadiq Aminu A former Chairman of the Nigerian Economic Summit Group, Dr Asue Ighodalo has emerged winner of the the Edo PDP governorship primary election after polling 577 votes to defeat seven other aspirants that contested the election at the Tennis Court of Samuel Ogbemudia stadium, Benin City.
Chairman of the primary election Committee and returning officer, Dr Dauda Lawal declared Dr Asue Ighodalo winner and candidate of the PDP in the September 2024 governorship election.

According to the returning officer, the Deputy Governor, Mr Philip Shaibu got one vote and six votes were declared void.
The returning officer said: “I, therefore, declare Asuelimen Ighodalo the winner of this concluded primary today with a total vote of 577. Thank you, ladies and gentlemen,” the returning officer said.
“Therefore, I hereby return him elected as the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the upcoming election in Edo State. My brother, congratulations,” He added.
In his acceptance speech, Dr Asue Ighodalo expressed gratitude to God and everyone that participated in the process and pledged not to disappoint them and the people of Edo state if elected as Governor of the state.
Each of the aspirants had earlier taken turns to address the delegates where they appealed to them to place the interest of the state above personal interest while making their choices.
Earlier, the state chairman of the Party, Dr Anthony Aziegbemi had in his welcome address, implored all the delegates to take the exercise seriously and vote for the best aspirant that could expand the frontiers of the state’s economy.
On his part, Governor Godwin Obaseki appreciated the National Working Committee and state working Committee for making the event possible.
