MMA STAR PARTNERS NOLLYWOOD TO BOOST ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY 23-02-24
By Sadiq Aminu Mixed Martial Arts, MMA star in collaboration with Nollywood actors have converged on Abuja for a first-ever Celebrity Global Fight Concert to boost the entertainment industry.
The convener of the programme, who is also a former Nigerian kickboxer and Mixed Martial Arts, star, Loveth Patra Ekufu, while briefing newsmen said the move was to give the entertainment industry a new dimension to make people happy.
According to her, the concert also aims at boosting the popularity of combat sports, showcasing the relationship between entertainment and sports, while aiding grassroots development and tourism.
“When you look at the WWE, you see the likes of ‘the Rock’, and other Hollywood stars who still go to the boxing ring. That’s the level of awareness we are trying to bring down to Nigeria”.
She added “our celebrities that are here we want to make them more popular more than they are, bringing the WWE fame into Nigeria, the future is big and it will be better”.
“My advice to everyone is that we keep pushing, we know Nigerians we have talents so the only way you make a success is that you discover your talents and you keep pushing it there is no way you cannot be favourable like other people.
“When you know your talent and you utilize it our country will be great.”
“When we do this, we, in turn, promote grassroots sports development and amateur sports, and also create opportunities for tourism, we want our celebrities to be able to challenge any of their counterparts abroad, to a fight, that’s why it’s called a Global Fight Concert.”
Also speaking at the briefing, a Nollywood Star Patience Ozokwor popularly known as ‘Mama G’ said the move would showcase multiple talents of Nollywood actors away from the regular activities they are known for.
Laide Bakari, Chizzy Alichi, Kelvin Ikeduba, Rykardo Agbo are some of the Actors that would be part of the boxing Global fight concert.
