APC TO DEPLOY ALL LEGAL MEANS AGAINST THE REFUSAL TO SWEAR IN 16 PLATEAU LAWMAKERS 06-03-24
By Sadiq Aminu The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), says it would deploy every legal machinery against the Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly over his refusal to swear in 16 APC lawmakers in the state.
The National Vice Chairman South West, Isaac Kekemeke, stated this while briefing newsmen after a meeting of the NWC, at the party’s headquarters in Abuja.
This according to him, was despite the ruling of the Appeal court, which upheld the election of the APC lawmakers and directed the State Assembly to swear them.
Mr Kekemake described the actions of the Speaker as a big threat to democracy and an unacceptable behaviour.
“The Court of Appeal reaffirmed the decision of the Tribunal and we frown at the illegality of the Speaker of Plateau State Assembly for disobeying that decision.
“This is a big threat to democracy and an unacceptable behaviour. The NWC expresses its absolute displeasure over this continued illegality. This is unacceptable from both the Speaker and the PDP at large.
“The patience of the APC is running out but because the APC is a peaceful party we are calling on the law enforcement agencies to do the needful now and not tomorrow. We will use every legal instrument to ensure that the 16 APC lawmakers are sworn-in,” the APC NWC warned.
On other issues discussed at the meeting, National Vice Chairman, North Central, of the party, Mu’azu Bawa-Rijau, said the NWC has resolved to commence the electronic membership registration of the party in Minna, Niger State on the 19th of March after registering President Bola Tinubu and Vice President, Kashim Shettima at the presidential Villa in Abuja.
He added that the NWC also approved the party’s schedule of activities for the Ondo State gubernatorial election.
