PRESIDENT TINUBU INAUGURATES MECHANISMS AGRICULTURAL EQUIPMENT IN NIGER STATE                                                                               11-03-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                        President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has described as economic sabotage allowing cows to roam about destroying crops and other vegetation cover.

To this end, the President, urged state Governments to provide land for cattle rearing while the Federal Government will provide comprehensive programme that would solve the challenge.

President Tinubu made this known at the official flag off of the Agricultural Mechanisation Equipment procured by the Niger State Government and the Commissioning of the Remodeled Domestic Terminal of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Airport Minna.

President Tinubu noted that keeping cattle from roaming the streets would provide ample opportunity to tap from their products.

He commended Governor Umaru Bago of Niger State for procuring mechanised agricultural equipment which he noted would complement the efforts of the Federal Government in the Agricultural sector..

Commenting on the hardship faced by Nigerians especially the public workers, President Tinubu appealed to State Governments that are yet to start paying wage award to their workers to do so as the Federal Government would continue to pay wage award until the determination of a new Minimum Wage for the nation’s workforce.

He also used the forum to announce plans by the Federal Government to commence payment of Unemployment benefit for graduates stressing that the Social Security Programme for the Elderly and the Vulnerable would soon commence to relieve people of hunger.

The Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago Said he was motivated to embark on large scale agricultural initiatives to curb hunger, provide unemployment opportunities through farming leading to food sufficiency.

Governor Bago who gave an assurance that the Hajj Terminal construction flagged off by President Tinubu would be completed before the airlift of pilgrims to Saudi Arabia, expressed optimism that the Remodeled Bola Ahmed Tinubu airport would serve as viable alternative to Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja.

The Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari said the Ministry would continue to establish and sustain partnership with States for the realization of the Agricultural revolution of the Federal Government.
