By Sadiq Aminu                                                    Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has approved the remodeling of the state Specialist Hospital as part of the state of emergency declared on the health sector.

During the nineteenth Executive Council meeting chaired by Governor Dauda Lawal at the Government House, Gusau, significant decisions were made, including the approval for the complete remodeling and renovation of Yeriman Bakura Specialist Hospital.

In a press statement released by Sulaiman Bala Idris, spokesperson for the governor, said the move comes in response to the pressing need for advanced medical services in the State. Saying the project will commence immediately.

The endeavor aims to transform the specialist hospital into a modern and fully functional healthcare facility, capable of meeting the evolving healthcare demands of the state.

“The decision aligns with the recent declaration of a state of emergency in the Zamfara health sector, underscoring the government’s commitment to addressing the longstanding challenges faced by the healthcare system in the state.” Sulaiman said

Highlighting the urgency of the situation, Idris emphasized that the current state of the Specialist Hospital necessitates immediate action. “Patients have long grappled with inadequate medical equipment, forcing many to seek critical medical procedures outside the state.

“As part of the remodeling plan, new structures will be erected, medical facilities upgraded, and staff trained to ensure the hospital operates at par with modern healthcare standards. Alhaji Mustapha Falaki, the Managing Director of Minjirya Health Services Limited, presented crucial insights during the council meeting, outlining the roadmap for the hospital’s transformation.

“In addition to the remodeling initiative, the Executive Council deliberated on various important matters, including the state social protection policy. This policy, designed to consolidate social protection interventions, aims to bolster Zamfara State’s development agenda by fostering inclusive growth and wellbeing for all residents.” The statement added

He noted that the approval of the remodeling project signifies a significant step towards enhancing healthcare delivery in Zamfara State, promising improved access to quality medical services for its populace.
