NIGERIA LABOUR CONGRESS DEMANDS RESIGNATION OF LABOUR PARTY NATIONAL CHAIRMAN-ABURE                                                                           20-03-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                      The Nigeria Labour Congress NLC has demanded the immediate resignation of National Chairman of Labour Party Julius Abure on the ground that he was not properly elected.

The Acting General Secretary of the NLC, Comrade Ismail Bello stated this during the picketing at the Labour Party’s headquarters in Abuja.

Comrade Bello accused the National Chairman of Labour Party on the allegations of corruption and for not carrying the Congress along.

The Acting Chairman of the Political Commission of the Congress, Prof Theophilus Ndubuaku, claimed that the planned convention of the party is an illegal one without notifying NLC that registered Labour Party.

He maintained that the planned convention scheduled to hold at Umuahia, in Abia State on March 27, NLC alleged that the Convention was set up to re-electing Abure as the sole administrator of the Labour Party.

There was no officials of the party on the ground to respond to the issues raised by the Labour Leaders who stormed the premises of the party in Abuja to expressed their displeasure.

The Labour Party leadership, in a statement denied any financial impropriety, insisting that the party is open to forensic audit of its accounts.

The party urges NLC to send its own external auditors to check its financial books.
