JUSTICE DANIEL SETS UP A 7-MAN PANEL TO INVESTIGATE ALLEGATIONS AGAINST THE DEPUTY GOVERNOR OF EDO STATE 25-03-24
By Sadiq Aminu Following receipt of Edo state house of Assemblys resolution by the state judiciary, the Chief Judge, Justice Daniel Okungbowa has subsequently set up a seven man panel to investigate allegations contained in the impeachment notice against the deputy governor of Edo state Mr Philip Shuaibu on grounds of revealing state secrets among others.
This is as contained in a statement signed and released by the chief registrar of the Edo state judiciary Mr Benson Osawaru
The statement premised it’s action in line with section 188, sub section 5 of the 1999 constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended.
The statement noted that in his capacity as Chief judge of Edo state, Justice Daniel Okungbowa inaugurated the following persons as members of the judicial investigative panel.
Retired Justice Steven Omonua would serve as chairman while the following would serve as members: Prof. Theresa Akpoghome, Mr. Oghogho Oviasu, Dr. Andrew Oliha and Mr. Idris Abdulkareem, President Aigbokhian and Mariam Ilavbare as members.
This is sequel to the expiration of the 7-day notice issued to the Deputy Governor to respond to the impeachment notice served on him by the Edo state House of Assembly which elapsed before the house wrote the state chief judge in furtherance of the impeachment process.
