FG ASSURES ENHANCED HEALTHCARE DELIVERY IN THE COUNTRY                                                                               08-04-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                         FG says health and well being of Nigerians is at the centre of the present administration commitment to transforming the country.

Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, prof. Muhammad Ali Pate, stated this in a visit to Sokoto state aimed at discussing modalities towards effective application of vaccine preventable diseases in Sokoto state.
He said the visit was informed by a report indicating challenges in Sokoto state when its comes to immunization and primary healthcare delivery in the state.

The minister noted that the visit was a directive by president Bola Ahmad Tinubu in order to have an interface with government of the state and the Sultan with a view to upscaling the application of vaccine preventable diseases.

In her speech, the new chief executive officer of Global Alliance for Vaccines and immunization in Nigeria, Dr. Sania nista said as a development partner, the Alliance have earmarked twenty million dollars for the procurement of the vaccine preventable diseases for Nigeria.

She explained that they are in Sokoto to understand how their support would have a positive impact on the health of children in the state.

Responding, the state governor Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto, represented by the deputy governor, Alh. Idris Muhammad Gobir conceded that there is need for improvement in the area of immunization in the state.

According to him, the bad record in the health sector was inherited from the previous PDP administration in the state.

The deputy governor who is the Coordinating chairman of polio eradication and vaccine preventable diseases assured that the state is committed to enhancing primary healthcare delivery for effective Service delivery in the state.

While at the Sultan palace, the health minister held a close door meeting with the Sultanate council and other traditional leaders in the state on measures to be taken towards the success of the program in the state.

In a remark, the Sultan of sokoto Muhammad Saad Abubakar assured the Sultanate readiness to supporting the FG and other development partners that have direct bearing to the well being of people of Sokoto state.
