By Sadiq Aminu                                                              Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State wants Nigerian Police Force to review it operational guidelines in a manner that would encourage active participation of women especially from northern parts of the country.

He made the plea while fielding questions from journalists shortly after granting audience to wife of the Inspector General of Police Mrs Elizabeth Egbetokun at Government House Bauchi.

Governor Bala Mohammed who acknowledged the role of women police in ensuring peaceful coexistence maintained that the system is not encouraging participation of women from the north in view of the sociocultural and religious differences.

He also applauded Mrs Egbetokun for introducing laudable initiatives aimed at empowering women in different areas.

On her part, the wife of Inspector General of Police Mrs Elizabeth Egbetokun said she was in the state to intimate the Governor on the newly introduced initiative of Young Women in Agriculture under the police Agricultural empowerment programme.

She therefore urged women from the state to avail themselves with the opportunity to improve the economic status.
