KANO ANTI-GRAFT AGENCY REASSURES COMMITMENT TOWARDS FIGHTING CORRUPTION                                                                                                                              26-04-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                                   The Kano State Public Complain and Anti- corruption Commission has vowed to fight corruption in the state despite numerous challenges surrounding its activities.

The Chairman of the commission, Barrister Muhyi Magaji Rimin Gado, disclosed this during a media briefing held at the commission’s headquarters.

He said though fighting corruption is a difficult task as corruption often fights back in a dirty way, the commission will never be reluctant.

Africa 247 recalled that the Nigeria Police withdrawn it’s personnel attached to the commission on the directive of the Inspector General of Police on Thursday.

Asked about the recent withdrawal of the police by the Kano State Police Command, Rimin Gado said he was happy that the police officers were now back at the commission.

However, in less than 24 hours after the report, the police said that it has reversed its decision.

Muhyi Magaji Rimin Gado commended the unwavering support of the Kano State Police Command to the commission in ensuring a corruption-free society.

‘’Honestly, I sincerely appreciate the support of the police in carrying out our responsibilities with highly responsible personnel attached to us ”

According to the commission’s chairman, the successes recorded by the agency as a pioneer state anti-corruption body, at least more than five states across the federation are establishing similar agency with some of them already in discussion with Kano for support on how to go with it.

It could be recalled that Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the command`s spokesperson, in a statement on Friday said that the development was sequel to a routine staff audit being carried out by the command.
