WIFE OF ZAMFARA STATE GOVERNOR, EMPHASISES ROLE OF MAINTAINING A CLEAN ENVIRONMENT TO FIGHT MALARIA                                                                       28-04-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                              As the world observes World Malaria Day 2024, Wife of the Zamfara State State Governor, Hajiya Huriyya Dauda Lawal has emphasised the critical role of maintaining a clean environment in the fight against malaria.

The first lady highlighted this message during an awareness and sensitisation campaign held at the Emir of Bungudu Palace in Bungudu Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

Hajiya Huriyya Dauda Lawal represented by the wife of Leader Zamfara House of Assembly Hajiya Hafsat Biliyaminu Ismail Moriki emphasised that this year’s theme: “Accelerating the Fight Against Malaria for a More Equitable World”, underline the urgent need to intensify efforts against the disease, especially in children, pregnant women and elderly people to reduce malaria-induced mortality rate in the state and imbibe the habit of sleeping in a treated mosquito net.

She added that the state government would not relent in its efforts towards continued sensitization and awareness campaign against malaria, especially at the grassroots.

The State Commissioner for Health, Dr Aisha M Z Anka whom the acting permanent secretary of ministry, Alhaji Bashir Adamu Gusau represented warn against the abuse of the nets, which he said was being used to cover goalposts, Gardens, among other forms of abuse.

In a remarks, Emir of Bungudu, Sarkin Fulani, Alhaji Hassan Attahiru, who was represented by Alhaji Kabir Abdullahi Usman Kure, thank the First Lady for the awareness, urging all residents to join hands in creating a hygienic environment and adopting preventive measures to combat malaria effectively.

Every year, World Malaria Day is celebrated on April 25 to raise awareness about the disease, prevention and control.
