NIGER STATE GOVERNMENT FLAGGES OFF THE 2024 STATEWIDE LIVESTOCK AND POULTRY VACCINATION                                                                                                        03-05-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                                  Niger state is one of the States with highest number of livestock, Niger has an estimated two point seven million cattle, one point eight million sheep, two point one million goats and over 5 million local and commercially raised poultry.

Declaring the vaccination open at the State Livestock Improvement and Breeding Centre, Tagwai Dam , the State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago said the vaccine is free.

Governor Bago said the event was a periodic exercise where livestock and Poultry animals such as cows, goats and domestic birds are vaccinated.

He said the aim was to produce healthy and Hygienic animals fit for human consumption and prevent the outbreak of animal diseases particularly among the pastoralists.

The Governor represented by his Deputy Comrade Yakubu Garba said the importance of livestock development cannot be overemphasized stressing that more measures would be introduced to make farming more attractive.

The Commissioner of Livestock and Fisheries, Mr Ibrahim Mami Ijah urged livestock owners and herders to avail themselves of the opportunity for the well-being of their animals.

The Sarkin Fulani of the Community around the Livestock Improvement and Breeding Centre Abdullahi Usaini thanked the State Government for the gesture and promised to mobilise his kinsmen to provide their animals for the exercise.
