PDP WINS ALL CHAIRMANSHIP SEATS IN DELTA STATE COUNCIL ELECTIONS                                                                                        14-07-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                                Delta State Independent Electoral Commission has announced the results of the local government elections conducted last Saturday in the twenty five local government areas of the state.

At the ceremony in Asaba, Chairman of the commission, Doctor Jerry Agbaike said the People’s Democratic Party won the twenty five local government chairmanship seats and clinched four hundred and ninety nine councillorship positions in five hundred electoral wards while the Allied People’s Movement won one councillorship seat in Aniocha North local government area.

The Delta State Independent Electoral Commission Chairman who described the council elections as peaceful, credible, free and fair , commended the security agencies, the media , observers and ad hoc personnel for ensuring the smooth conduct of the local government elections.

Returning officers for the various local government area elections had earlier announced the results collated from the wards in the council areas amidst heavy security presence.

Meanwhile, Delta State Independent Electoral Commission, has presented certificates of return to the council chairmen elect and the vice chairmen elect at the headquarters of the commission in Asaba .

Chairman of the Commission , Doctor Jerry Agbaike who presented the certificates of returns to those who emerged victorious in the elections, urged them to deliver impactful and good governance to the people in their various council areas.
