GOVERNOR YUSUF WARNS AGAINST INDISCRIMINATE TREE FEELING, FLAGS OFF 2024 TREE PLANTING                                                                                                                24-07-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                               Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has warned that anyone found felling trees indiscriminately without authorization will face prosecution in Kano State.

The Governor stated this during the 2024 tree planting Campaign held at Khalifa Isyaku Rabiu estate, Kano.

He said the aim of the 2024 Tree Planting Campaign, was to plant over 3 million trees.

Governor Yusuf emphasized the importance of trees in human lives and the need to protect them.

He urged the private sector, civil society groups, and individuals to support the government’s efforts in building a healthy and safer environment.

The Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, appealed to residents to plant trees at their homes, recalling the excessive heat experienced in the state last year.

The Commissioner for Environment and Climate Change, Alhaji Nasir Sule Garo, highlighted the importance of tree planting in combating climate change and ensuring ecosystem stability.
