KANO STATE GOVERNMENT TO CONDUCT LOCAL GOVERNMENTS POLLS SEPTEMBER                                                                       31-07-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                                   The Kano state Independent Electoral Commission, KANSIEC, has announced that plans are concluded to conduct local government election by November 30th.

The Chairman of the KANSIEC, Professor Sani Malunfashi told newsmen in Kano.

He said all candidates would be subjected to drug tests before they were cleared for the election.

Mr Malumfashi also assured his readiness to conduct credible election, stressing that any candidate or party approach him with money would be exposed.

According to him, the commission is ready to conduct the election.

He said the commission would recruit 13,000 ad-hoc staff to man the 11,222 polling units of the state.

“We will train the ad-hoc staff and anybody found wanting in election malpractice will be dealt with decisively.”

“I want to conduct the best election. I will not condone malpractice and corruption. I swear to God, anybody approach me with money, I will expose him.”

Mr Malumfashi assured that the election would be free and peaceful as the commission would engage security agents to ensure peaceful exercise.
