NSCDC ARRESTS 108 SUSPECTS FOR VANDALIZING GOVERNMENT, PUBLIC PROPERTIES IN KANO STATE                                                                                                   03-08-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                                   The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kano State Command, has arrested 108 suspects who allegedly hijacked the peaceful protest, stole, and vandalized government and public properties.

Commandant Mohammad Lawal Falala disclosed this while parading the suspects at the commands headquarters in Kano.

He said the Corps is the leading agency responsible for protecting critical national assets and infrastructure.

The Commandant emphasized that they have been working assiduously to arrest the suspects and recover the stolen properties.

Commandant Falala maintained that the suspects have been apprehended following a credible intelligence from men of the NSCDC’s intelligence and investigation departments.

He added that the suspects allegedly vandalised and looted facilities at soon to be commissioned Digital Industrial Park, Nigerian Communication Communication, (NCC).

He explained that some of the items recovered from the suspects, including LCD TV, Executive Chairs, Doors, window frames, drawers.

Other items recovered including, State Road dual carriegeway iron demacating shields, 50KVA Mikano Generator, the Generator set to supplied electricity to streetlight at Dorayi Quarters, Gwale LGA.

He noted that all suspects and the recovered items are currently in the custody of the Corps, emphasizing that investigation has been commenced for possible legal action.

“In the light of the above, I want restate my stance the NSCDC Kano Command under my watch is committed to protecting lives property in the state”

“I similarly urge public to cooperate with our personnel and support us with intelligence to achieve our mandates.”

The Commandant further warned scrabb buyers and avoid buying stolen properties, maintaining that the Corps working with sister security agencies and key stakeholders to identify the stolen properties by the hoodlums during the 1st August protest.

He added that those arrested during the protest, including suspects from neigbouring states and Niger nationale.
