KATSINA PROTESTERS DEFY BAN, HOLD RUSSIAN FLAG                                                                                                                              05-08-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                                Youths in different parts of Katsina metropolis have continued to hold protest rallies in defiance of the protest ban imposed by the state government.

Several troops of protesters were seen moving in Katsina metropolis holding Russian flags as they chanted various slogans.

They converged on open fields at Yammawa, Filin Kanada, Filin Samji and ATC where they held prayer sessions before proceeding to IBB Way in groups.

In the mean time, riots broke out at Kofar Kaura where policemen used tear gas to disperse protesters that held Russian flags as they played the old National Anthem on mp3 players.

Meanwhile as the twelve-hour curfew lingers, policemen and civil defence operatives have been deployed to major junctions to prevent the breakdown of law and order in the metropolis.
