FLOODING: SENATOR ABDULAZIZ YARI PLEDGES TO REBUILD ALL THE OVER 5000 HOUSES DESTROYED BY THE DISASTER                                                                            19-08-24

By Sadiq Aminu.                                                               In response to the recent flooding that devastated Gummi, Zamfara West, leaving many residents homeless, former Zamfara State Governor and current Senator representing Zamfara West, Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar, has pledged to rebuild all the over 5000 houses destroyed by the disaster.

During his visit to Gummi today, Senator Yari reassured the residents of the town that a team of engineers would soon arrive to assess the cause of the flooding and devise a plan to construct barriers to prevent future occurrences.

Senator Yari, who was received by the Emir of Gummi, Justice Lawal Hassan (rtd) at the Emir’s Palace, announced immediate relief measures, including the donation of fifteen trucks of grains; five each of rice, millet, and maize along with five thousand mattresses and ten thousand blankets to alleviate the suffering of those affected by the flood.

As part of the reconstruction efforts, Senator Yari emphasized that only modern, durable houses would be built, rejecting the use of traditional mould houses.

Noting that, he has formed a committee of individuals with proven integrity to assess the extent of the damage and compile a report for swift implementation.

Expressing his sympathy, Senator Yari urged the people of Gummi Emirate to accept the tragedy as an act of Allah and to pray for the souls of those who lost their lives in the disaster. He also urged them to bear with the sudden change in their life and accept it in good faith.

In response, the Emir of Gummi, Justice Lawal Hassan (rdt), expressed his deep gratitude to the senator for his prompt intervention and prayed for Almighty Allah’s blessings upon him.

Senator Yari was accompanied by a delegation of prominent figures, including the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alh. Tukur Umar Danfulani and all the party executives; Chairman of the AA Yari political movement, Hon. Lawal M. Liman; former members of the state executive council, former member, state House of Assembly, and other top politicians.
