HOUSING DEVELOPMENT: GOVERNOR YUSUF PAYS COMPENSATION TO FARMERS IN KANO                                                               20-08-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                                  Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has launched the distribution of resettlement allocation letters to farmers affected by the development of two new cities in the state.

This initiative is part of the government’s broader strategy to decongest Kano metropolis and promote urban expansion.

This was contained in a statement issued by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa .

The Statement Explained that the allocation covers 2,483 plots from Yargaya and Rijiyar Gwangwan in Dawakin-Kudu, and 1,671 plots for Unguwar Rimi and Lambu in Tofa local government areas.

These plots serve as compensation for farmers whose lands have been acquired for the development of the new cities.

In his address, Governor Yusuf emphasized that the new city projects are designed to reduce congestion in Kano metropolis and establish environmentally-friendly urban centers equipped with essential amenities.

He highlighted the potential of these projects to stimulate socio-economic growth and improve the quality of life in the affected areas.

The governor called on the local communities to embrace the development and offer their full support to ensure the success of the projects.

Governor Yusuf also commended the efforts of community and traditional leaders in facilitating the compensation process, assuring the public of a transparent and smooth resettlement exercise.

He further revealed that the Federal Government plans to build an international-standard conference center in the area, along with a federal housing scheme that will begin with the construction of 500 houses, as part of a larger plan to build 1,500 houses.

In addition, the Kano State Government is planning to remodel, rebuild, and equip security tower at the entrances of Kano metropolis to enhance security and safeguard the lives and property of residents.
