By Sadiq Aminu                                                               Vice President Kashim Shettima, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, presidential flag bearer of the Labour Party in the 2023 general elections, Mr. Peter Obi, and House of Representatives’ Speaker Abbas Tajuddeen joined hundreds of mourners at the funeral rites of Hajiya Dada Yaradua, mother of late former President, Umaru Musa Yaradua, held in Katsina.

Katsina State Governor, Dr. Dikko Radda, the Emirs of Katsina and Daura, business mogul Alhaji Dahiru Mangal and dozens of other dignitaries also attended the prayers and burial of the late Yaradua family matriarch.

Meanwhile the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau Jibrin also led Senators to the funeral.

In the entourage was the Chairman Senate Committee on Police Affairs, Senator Abdulhamid Malam- Madori, Chairman Committee on Tertiary Education, Senator Muntari Dandutse and the Chairman Senate Committee on Science and Technology, Senator Aminu Iya Abbas.

Senator Jibrin prayed Almighty Allah to forgive her shortcomings and grant her eternal rest in Jannatul Firdausi.

He also urged Senator Abdulaziz Yar’Adua and other members of the family to take solace in the fact that she lived a righteous life.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Army and Chairman of the Northern Senators Forum, Senator Abdulaziz Musa Yar’Adua and all other persons she left behind. May Allah give them the strength to bear this irreparable loss,” he said.

Hajiya Dada was buried in an enclosed section of Danmarna Cemetary in Katsina after a funeral prayer that was led by Sheik Aminu Yammawa at Yaradua Quarters.

Africa 247 correspondent reports that despite rain drizzles, the funeral prayer and burial were attended by hundreds of mourners.

Hajiya Dada who died after a protracted illness, is survived by four children among whom is Senator Abdulazeez Musa Yaradua.
