KANO STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY URGES KNSG TO ASSIST VICTIMS OF FLOODING                                                                             09-09-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                                    The Kano state house of assembly KNHA has called on the state government KNSG to assist victims of flooding in Toranke ward Ajingi local government area.

This was sequel to deliberations on the floor of the house during plenary presided over by the speaker Alhaji Jibril Isma’il Falgore.

In a motion of urgent public importance moved by member representing Ajingi Alhaji Lawal Tini pointed out that flooding has devastated communities in Ajingi especially Toranke.

He stressed that half of the community has been wiped out where women and children sleep in schools, markets and uncompleted buildings. “children move from one place to another begging for food”

After careful deliberations the house adopted a resolution and urged the state government to provide relief materials to victims affected by flooding in the state.

In another development, member representing Kiru constituency Alhaji Usman Abubakar Tasi’u Kiru moved a motion on the need to construct irrigation channel from Turawa to Kiru town.

He argued that, the irrigation channel will go a long way in boosting the economy as most of the residents are farmers that can only work during the rainy season.

Usman maintained that the community also faces the challenges of youth migrating to other parts of the country to seek greener pastures.

“I believe that the irrigation channel will make people self-reliant and discourage others from moving to other places. Recently ten Kiru indigenes were lost during an accident on their way to Lagos from Kano”

The house unanimously adopted the motion and called on the state to construct the irrigation channel.

The house adjourned its sitting to Wednesday, 11th September 2024, in a motion moved by the majority leader, Lawan Hussaini Dala.
