KANO STATE GOVERNMENT DECLARES VICTORY OVER CHOLERA OUTBREAK                                                                                    09-10-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                                  The Kano State Government has successfully contained the spread of cholera across its 44 local government areas.

The Commissioner for Health, Dr. Abubakar Labaran Disclosed this while Briefing journalists in Kano.

Dr. Labaran revealed that out of 800 suspected cholera cases reported since January, only 19 were confirmed after thorough investigation by medical experts

He said Kano state recorded 40 cholera-related deaths in the last 10 months, with the disease spreading to over 20 local government areas. However, prompt intervention by the state government helped curb the outbreak.

Dr Abubakar Labaran maitained that among the measures embarked by the state government to curtailing the menace includes Treatment of Water Wells, Ensuring clean and portable drinking water to prevent the spread of cholera.

The Commissioner urged the general populace to always maintain good health culture especially by frequenting washing fruits and other food items before eating and ensuring good hygein.

Dr. Labaran’s added that this is a testament to the state government’s commitment to public health and its efforts to provide quality healthcare services to residents.
