FG EXPENDS TWO BILLION NAIRA ON SOKOTO WATER PROJECTS 11-10-24
By Sadiq Aminu The Federal Government has commenced two billions water supply projects in Sokoto State.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, the Minister of State for Water Resources and Sanitation, Alhaji Bello Goronyo, said the intervention was part of the FG’s commitment to providing portable water to all Nigerians.
The minister explained that the project is one of the ministry’s initiatives in Sokoto State, to ensuring access to clean water, create employment, and facilitate healthy life among Nigerians.
According to him, more projects, including the upgrade of existing dams and construction of new ones to enhance food production would be launch soon in the state.
He noted that these moves are part of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope Agenda aims to achieving food security, job creation, and agricultural development for sustainable development.
He urged the benefiting communities to take good care of the infrastructure provided by both the federal and state governments.
In his remarks, the special Assistant to the President on Community Engagement, North-West Zone Alhaji Abdullahi Yakasai said the project is a remarkable achievement that will significantly improve the living standards of the people of Sokoto State.
Also speaking, the Sokoto State Commissioner for Water Resources, Alhaji Yusuf Maccido explained that the intervention would further support the state government’s commitment towards sustainable water supply.
