HOUSE TO INVESTIGATE ACTIVITIES OFf UNREGISTERED AND UNPAINTED TAXIS IN THE FCT                                                                                                                                        22-10-24

The House of Representatives has mandated its Committees on Police, FCT and National Intelligence to investigate the activities of unregistered and unpainted taxis in the Territory to Check the operations of criminal ‘one-chance’ taxi operators in Abuja.
The House in an urgent motion of Public importance by a member representing Toro Federal Constituency of Bauchi State, Mr. Dabo Ismail Haruna, the House described the brutal killing of a legislative aid Miss Na’ima Sulaiman as disheartening.
The green Chamber noted that the killing of Na’ima Sulaiman had furthered confirmed the escalating insecurity in the FCT.
According to Mr. Dabo Haruna, the deceased was kidnapped and brutally murdered on Thursday 17th October, 2024 on her way home to Jahi District, around 6:15 pm, where she was taken at gunpoint at Bannex Junction in Wuse 2 by one-chance operators.
He explained that criminal activities of these taxi operators has been a reoccurring incident had left victims with horror and mental distress
Adopting the motion the House urged The Nigeria Police, DSS and other security agencies to bring the killers of Na’ima to book
The House also mandated its Committees on Police, FCT as well as National Intelligence to conduct a comprehensive investigation and liaise with the necessary stakeholders such as the FCT Minister, the FCT Commissioner of Police, as well as the DG SSS to ensure the problem is brought to a halt.
