EGYPT, ECOWAS MEETS TO STRENGTHEN TIES                                                                                                                                           25-10-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                                The President of the ECOWAS Commission, Dr. Omar Alieu Touray, welcomed the Egyptian Ambassador to Nigeria and ECOWAS, Mohamed Fouad, in Abuja.

A statement by the ECOWAS Commission in Abuja indicates that their discussions centered on Egypt’s support for peace and security in Africa, particularly in the Sahel region, and on reactivating the ECOWAS Standby Force.

It says Dr. Touray expressed gratitude to Egypt for its contributions in healthcare, education, infrastructure, and security.

The statement adds that Dr Toure pledged to strengthen the partnership between ECOWAS and Egypt to address security challenges affecting member states. thanks
