FRSC, SAYS IT WILL LEVERAGE ON MODERN TECHNOLOGY TO ENHANCE IT’S OPERATIONS IN LINE WITH GLOBAL DYNAMICS                                                                                           29-10-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                               The Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, says it will leverage on modern technology to enhance its operations in line with global dynamics in road transportation.

FRSC Corps Marshal, Mallam Shehu Mohammed stated this during an Ember Months Town Hall meeting in Abuja with the theme: Smart Road Infrastructure and Commuters Right to Safe Journeys”.

Mallam Mohammed argued that since road transportation is the predominant transport mode in the country, Smart Road Infrastructure would ensure interface between the vehicles,the roads and the commutters seamless.

According to him, FRSC digitalized its operations in line with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda for Economic growth.

He stressed that Smart Infrastructure which includes a Speed sensor, IPCCT camera, Smart traffic lights, weather monitoring system and digital signage would assist in improving congested roadways as well as improving emergency response.

The FRSC Boss assured that with the recent launch of the Mobile App, Commuters have been empowered to know their rights and speak out against reckless driving.

In a remark, the Inspector General of Police, Mr Kayode Egbetokun represented by the Assistant Inspector General in charge of Zone 7, Benedict Igwe emphasized the need for FRSC to work with relevant security agencies especially the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency in checking high rate of consumption of illicit drugs among commercial drivers in the country.

He also stressed the need for FRSC to adopt the use of Drones in monitoring and curtailing the excesses of motorists.

The co-convener of the town hall meeting, Mr Frank Aigbogun stressed the need for FRSC to partner the Media to senzitize Road users on the dangerous effects of reckless driving.

He commended FRSC for its various initiatives which reduced road accidents and improved effective traffic management in the country.

Representatives of Transport Unions in their separate remarks pledged maximum support towards making Roads safer for socio economic growth.
