FEDERAL GOVERNMENT REVERSES THE 18 YEARS ENTRY AGE FOR UNIVERSITY EDUCATION                                                                                                                                   04-11-24

The Federal government has reversed the 18 years entry age for University education.

The New Minister of Education, Dr. Morufu Alausa made this known in Abuja while briefing the press on the assumption of office.

Dr. Alausa explained that the policy was detrimental to the federal government’s efforts to reduce the number of out of school children in the country and not sustainable for the education sector.

He said the 16 year age limit would be maintained but there would be exceptions for gifted children.

The Minister of Education stated that the Ministry would work with that of humanitarian Affairs and poverty alleviation to provide incentives for mothers, in the form of conditional cash transfer, to be able to send their children to school.

Also, the school feeding programme would be re-introduced to create a conducive environment for the children to stay in school.
