GOVERNOR YUSUF PRESENTS 2025 PROPOSED BUDGET, FOCUSES ON HUMAN CAPITAL, ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT                                                                                                       08-11-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                                The Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has presented the 2025 Proposed Budget of Kano State, Tagged “Budget of Hope, Human Capital and Economic Development,” with a total allocation of N549.16 billion.

The Governor presented the proposed budget during the House Plenary session, held at the chambers of Kano State House of Assembly.

He said the capital component of the proposed budget is N312,634,912,672.18 billion,
while the recurrent expenditure is set at N236,525,504,990.82billion.

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf maintained that when approved the budget is projected to have a ratio of capital to Recurrent 57:43 percent respectively.

He said Most of the capital spending will be in the Social and Economic Sectors to the tune of 461,447,963,240.86.

Education Gulfed the largest share with N168.35 billion which is equivalent to (31%),while the sum of N90.6 billion (16.5%) was located to Health.

Other areas with topmost priority includes Agriculture with the sum of N21.04 billion (3.83%),followed by Infrastructure Development with the sum of N70.68 billion (12.87%).

The Sum of N3.89 billion (1.22%) was allocated to Manufacturing, Commerce, Industry, and Tourism, while Environment and Sanitation will Gulf the sum of N15.52 billion (2.83%).

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf explained that the sum of N98.24 billion (17.57%) was set aside for Governance Institutions.

Security, Justice, and Emergency Services N23.46 billion (4%), Water Supply and Rural Development N27.24 billion (4.96%) and Transport Development N12.81 billion (2.33%).

Others include Women, Youth, and People with Special Needs N17.34 billion (3.15%

The Governor Appealed to the Kano State House of Assembly to expidite action in making move for speedy passage of the proposed bill, with a view to commence implementation for the benefit of the general public.
