POLICE ARRESTS SIX SUSPECTED CRIMINALS IN KWARA STATE                                                                                                                        07-11-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                                 Kwara state Police Command has arrested six suspects over alleged culpable homicide, Criminal conspiracy, disturbance of public peace and causing grievous hurt.

Parading the suspects at the Police headquarters Ilọrin,the state Commisssioner of Police, Victor Olaiya said the suspects were arrested in different parts of the state.

He said five of the suspects were arrested over alleged murder of a motorcyclist one Rafiu Akao in Oke -Oyi area of Ilọrin, while the sixth was held over alleged conspiracy.

Olaiya explained that during investigations at the scene of the crime detectives recovered an Android phone which was suspected to belong to one of the assailants as well as a motorcycle believe to be the deceased property.

He noted that the detectives intensified efforts which led to the arrest of the suspects.

The Commisssioner said while police were carrying out their investigation an innocent farmer was mistakenly targeted and pursued by villagers and motorcycle operators who wrongly suspect him of being involved in the crime.

He said police investigation shows that the farmer had no connection with the alleged homicide case.

Olaiya advised the general public to desist from taking laws in their hands.

He said the command would arrested and prosecute and individual or group found engaging in acts that are capable of distrusting public order.

Olaiya assured residents of the state of the determination of the command to reduce crime to the minimum.
