FCT ADMINISTRATION TO OFFER FREE EDUCATION TO OVER 20,000 OUT OF SCHOOL CHILDREN, MOPPED UP ACROSS THE AREA COUNCILS 15-11-24
By Sadiq Aminu The Federal Capital Territory, FCT Administration is to offer free education to the over twenty thousand out of school children, mopped up across the area councils.
The Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Almajiri and out of school children’s Education, Dr. Muhammed Idris stated this while handing over the children and their data to the FCT Administration for enrollment in school.
The twenty thousand, seven hundred children were mopped up through the activities of the out of school Marshals who were mandated to go round the area councils of the FCT to identify for enrollment, these vulnerable children.
The Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Almajiri and out of school children’s Education, Dr. Muhammed Idris who commended the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike for the kind gesture, called on the Governors to key into the initiative as it would go a long way in reducing the number of out of school children in the country and address the issue of insecurity.
Dr. Idris said the present administration was committed to ensuring that this segment of the society was protected and given the opportunity to access quality education, so that they would contribute their quota to national development.
While receiving the Children, the FCT Mandate Secretary for Education, Dr. Danlami Hayyo promised to provide a conducive learning environment for the students and called for collaboration among stakeholders for the success of the initiative.
The Representative of the Paramount ruler of Garki, Alhaji Umar Maikasuwa pledged the support of the people and advised parents especially from the North to accept the initiative and ensure their children remained in the school.
The mop up exercise and enrollment of out of school in the country is to be replicated in the thirty six states of the federation.
