EDO STATE GOVERNMENT TO INVESTIGATE LAND GRABBING ALLEGATIONS AGAINST IMMEDIATE PAST GOVERNOR OF THE STATE, MR GOODWIN OBASEKI 19-11-24

Governor Monday Okpebolor says he will set up a commission of inquiry to investigate land grabbing allegations against the immediate past Governor of the state, Mr Godwin Obaseki at Okoroma Community in Ikpoba Okha Local government area of the state.
The Governor stated this at a meeting with leaders of Okoroma Community, held at the Community hall off airport road, Benin City.
He recalled that during his electioneering he promised to restore justice to the community if voted into office.
The Governor threatened that his administration would revoke any Certificate of Occupancy issued wrongly and apealled to them to continue to maintain the Peace .
Governor Okpebolor further explained that he would liase with Edo State Commissioner of Police and the Commander 4 Brigade to deploy more troops to ensure lasting Peace in the area.
Some leaders of the community, including Secretary of the community, Mr Monday Omoruguwa and coordinator of Developers in the Community, Mr Collins Ojo had narrated how the immediate past Governor Mr Godwin Obaseki had declared curfew for a purported security exercise on the 29th of December, 2022 and grabbed their land after demolishing several of their houses.
They expressed their willingness to withdraw all litigations against Edo State Government following the intervention of Governor Okpebolor.
Okoroma and Amagba Communities have been in the news of recent following communal clashes between them over boundary issues that have led to loss of lives and destruction of properties.
