KANO STATE GOVERNMENT COMMITTED TO REDUCING MALNUTRITION                                                                                                       22-11-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                                   Kano State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to reducing malnutrition in the state, particularly among children.

This pledge was made By the Commissioner for Budget Alhaji Musa Suleiman Shanono during a policy meeting on Multiple Micronutrient Supplement (MMS) organized by the Civil Society Scaling Up Nutrition in Nigeria (CS-SUNN).

He said the state government would not hesitate in making all the needed contributions with the donor agencies with a view to curtail the menace of malnutrition.

The meeting aimed to inform policymakers about the nutrition situation in the state and secure commitments from state assembly members and policymakers to improve domestic investment in MMS.

According to the Commissioner, nutrition issues are multifaceted and require serious attention.

He emphasized that Kano State is one of the states facing significant challenges related to child malnutrition.

The Commissioner urged Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) responsible for implementing nutrition programs in the state to intensify their efforts, given the alarming rise in malnourished children.

Kano State Government reaffirmed its readiness to collaborate with existing partners to reduce malnutrition levels in the state.

In her remark Kano State Coordinator of CS-SUNN Hajiya Zainab Ali said the aim of the stakeholders meeting was to acquaint them with the requisite information about the importance of MMS to human health with a view to ensure optimum collaborating with the stakeholders to achieving the stated objectives.

The meeting was attended by the Right representative of the RT Honorable Speaker of the Kano State Assembly, Honorable Members, and other stakeholders.
