FEDERAL GOVERNMENT INAUGURATES NATIONAL HONOURS AWARD SCREENING COMMITTEE 27-11-24
By Sadiq Aminu The Federal Government has inaugurated the 2024 National Honours Award Screening Committee.
At the inauguration in Abuja, the Minister of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs, Mr Bitrus Jisalo, urged the committee members to discharge their duties in accordance with the law guiding their constitution.
He said the prestigious award is the highest national recognition for outstanding achievements, honouring individuals who have made significant contributions to Nigeria’s development and progress.
”As we gather here today, we are reminded of the importance of this task. The National Honours Award is a symbol of our nation’s gratitude to those who have dedicated their time, energy, and resources to advancing our country. I charge you to select individuals who embody the values of excellence, integrity, and national service.”
Mr Jisalo urged the Committee to be fair, transparent, and honourable in the selection process.
The Chairman of the Committee and Emir of Lafia, Justice Sidi Bage Retired, thanked President Bola Tinubu, for the confidence reposed on them and promised that the committee led by him will discharge their duties with utmost professionalism.
”Our task goes beyond selecting awardees; it’s about upholding the ideals of excellence and service that make Nigeria proud. The National Honours Award symbolizes our collective achievements, and the individuals we honour will inspire future generations
Other members of the Committee are Mrs Farida Waziri, Alhaji Muhammad Jafar, Alhaji Bello Isah, and Chief Inikio Dede.
Also, representatives of some ministries and Government Agencies such as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, DSS, NIA and ICPC are included in the committee.
