HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES PROPOSES BILLS TO ADDRESS YOUTHS RESTIVENESS                                                                          03-12-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                              There has been several efforts by both Public and Private sectors to address youth restiveness in Nigeria but this has not yielded much desired results.
To address this, a Bill aimed at establishing the Institute of Leadership, Entrepreneurship and Corporate Governance in the country, is before the House of Representatives aimed at equipping the youths with the skills to be gainfully engaged.

Speaking during a public hearing in Abuja, the Speaker House of Representatives Dr Tajudeen Abbas, stressed the need to equip the teeming population of unemployed youths with skills in various fields of endeavours.

Dr. Abbas emphasized that the proposed institute when passed and assented to would yield significant results for Nigeria’s peace, prosperity, and stability.
The Speaker represented by Mr. Nkama Nkemkama, expressed concern that many businesses encounter barriers when attempting to improve productivity and expand service delivery even when Nigeria is a nation of entrepreneurs, with businesses thriving everywhere.

Earlier, the Chairman House Committee on Commerce, Mr. Ahmed Munir explained that the Bills were in line with the legislative agenda of the 10th House of Representatives which seeks to change narrative in the lives of the citizens especially in the area of entrepreneurship.
Mr. Munir said the House also considered another Bill at establishing chartered institute of business educators of Nigeria charged with the responsibility of advancing the study , training and practice of business educators of Nigeria..
