KEBBI STATE POLYTECHNIC SECURES NBTE ACCREDITATION 04-12-24
By Sadiq Aminu The Kebbi State Polytechnic Dakingari, has secured the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) accreditation of National Diploma in seven science coureses.
The Chairman, governing board of the Polytechnic, Professor Halliru Muhammad Bandiya, while speaking to Africa247 in Kebbi State, stated that, the Polytechnic is now fully accredited by the NBTE and also National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE) approved four courses for NCE to be run by the Polytechnic.
He stated that, admission into the Polytechnic would now be offered by the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) as the institution name is now on JAMB portal unlike the previous years where the Polytechnic awards an ordinary Diploma.
According to him, the institution is now set to undertake Remedial Courses and Computer literacy programmes to enable secondary school leavers to that failed to meet up the admission requirements to get the requirements.
The Chairman highlighted some of the achievements that include appointment of substantive Rector to the institution and the accreditation of the seven science courses run by the Polytechnic.
Similarly, the Rector of the Polytechnic, Dr. Abubakar Boyi Dalatu, told Africa247 that, on assumption of duty this year, he found that all programmes run by the institution were not on JAMB portal saying, any institution that operates without a regulatory body will end off awarding certificate that is questionable and now the courses are accredited by NBTE for the award of National Diploma.
According to him, the focus of the institution is not to engage on programmes that are skills base but aquant any student with additional skills that he can depend on after graduation.
Dr. Boyi Dalatu, said the Polytechnic has competent academic and non academic staff that under goes training within and outside the country and as well plan to expand the institution by establishing more courses.
He thanked the State Government and the TETFUND for their support and intervention to the institution which will make it relocate to its permanent site.
