HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES TO INVESTIGATE NON DELIVERY OF 2,000 TRACTORS AGREEMENT BY JOHN DEERE                                                                      17-12-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                                   The House of Representatives has urged its Committees to investigate the non delivery of the two thousand units of tractors and one hundred Units Combined Harvesters, an agreement between the Federal Government and with John Deere Tractors to supply.
The House in an urgent motion of Public importance by a member representing Edu, Moro, Patigi Federal Constituency of Kwara State, Saba Ahmed Adam, the house expressed concern that no single tractor has been supply one after the agreement.
According to Mr. Adam, despite the huge public funds involved in the transactions which is targeted at increasing food production and food security in Nigeria no single tractor or implement has been received.
The House was also worried that the non-delivery of these tractors and implements is a setback to the Renewed Hope Agenda in Agricultural mechanization and this poses challenge to Nigeria’s food sufficiency ambition.
Adopting the motion the House mandated its Committee on Agricultural Production and Services to investigate the procurement and distribution of farm implements within the purview of the Federal Department of Agriculture.
