By Sadiq Aminu                                                                  The Yobe State Command of the Nigerian Police Force has reported the successful investigation and prosecution of 454 criminal cases in the state in the Year 2024.

According to a statement issued by the command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, 116 other criminal cases and 17 unnatural offences are currently under investigation.

The command noted a significant decrease in armed robbery, kidnapping, and homicide during the period under review.

A reduction was also reported in minor crimes, such as theft, burglary, cheating, and farmer-herder conflicts.

Furthermore, the command reported a decline in sexually related offences, which was attributed to its strategies for protecting women and children.

DSP Abdulkarim expressed satisfaction with the police’s success in maintaining law and order throughout the state in 2024, stating that the command is committed to building on these achievements in the coming year.

The statement added that the State Commissioner of Police, Garba Ahmed, commended the public for their cooperation with the police and urged them to continue their support.
