NEW MOON: SULTAN OF SOKOTO DECLARES FRIDAY THE 31ST OF JANUARY 2025 AS THE FIRST DAY OF SHA’ABAN 1446AH, ISLAMIC CALENDAR.                                                                                                                                     30-01-25

By Sadiq Aminu                                                                  His eminence the Sultan of Sokoto Muhammad Saad Abubakar has declared tomorrow Friday the 31st of January 2025 as the first day of Sha’aban 1446AH , Islamic calendar.

In a statement signed by the chairman Advisory Committee on religious Affairs, Sultanate Council Sokoto Prof. Sambo Wali Junaidu, says the Committee together with the National Moon sighting Committee across the country, did not receive information confirming the sighting of the new crescent of Sha’aban on Wednesday the 29th of Rajab, 1446AH, equivalent to 29th of January 2025 noting that today Thursday the thirtieth of January is the ending of Rajab 1446AH and tomorrow shall be the 1st of Sha’aban accordingly.

The statement cited that the Monthly Observation of the moon, clarifies the Islamic Calendar within a given year, thereby making the month of Ramadan moon sightings more acceptable to the general Muslims in the Country.
