KNSG, PLANE ENHANCES EDUCATION SECTOR WITH PROCUREMENT TRAINING                                                                             03-02-25

By Sadiq Aminu                                                             The Kano State Government KNSG with support from the Partnership For Learning For All in Nigeria PLANE FCDO has taken a significant step towards enhancing the education sector by organizing a 3-day procurement workshop.

The training, aimed to equip procurement officers with in-depth knowledge of procurement planning and its benefits for successful implementation.

The training program covered various technical sessions, including Kano State public financial management law and public procurement law.

Participants gained a better understanding of the Kano State public procurement law and acquired basic knowledge on effective implementation of education sector procurements in Kano State.

In his closing remarks, Kano state commissioner of education Dr. Haruna Makoda represented by the Permanent Secretary Alhaji Bashir Baffa Muhammad, hinted that the ministry will ensure timely adoption of the recommendations.

He pointed out that the state government was committed to the development of education through the declaration of a state of emergency and other policies aimed at uplifting education to global standard.

The permanent secretary urged participants to make the best use of their newfound knowledge to improve their performance as planning and procurement officers.

He commended PLANE for partnering with the Kano State Government on different educational development programs.

Some of the participants who spoke to Africa247, the director of planning research and statistics MOE Yusha’u Hamza, deputy director of procurement SUBEB Kabiru Lawan, and the secretary of Kano State Accountability Forum on Education K-SAFE Dr Abdulsalam Muhammad Kani described the workshop as apt.

They pointed out that the knowledge gained will go a long way in improving productivity in the state’s procurement process.
