KEBBI  STATE GOVERNMENT SETS FOR RIGATA CULTURAL FESTIVAL                                                                                                      10-02-25

By Sadiq Aminu                                                                  Kebbi State Government, says all arrangements have been concluded for the hosting of the annual Rigata Cultural Festival in Yauri local government area of the state.

The National Chairman, organizing committee and the Secretary to the state government, Yakubu Bala Tafida, while briefing newsmen stated that, this year’s cultural festival was packaged to feature a number of spectacular and thrilling events aimed at showcasing the rich and diverse cultural heritage of the people of Yauri Emirate.

He said, the events would not limit to trade fair exhibition, Agricultural show, cultural entertainment but also include economic investment.

The Chairman disclosed that, in respect of the cultural festival, the committee has secured an investment to the tune of about 200 million US dollars in the mining sector in the area.

Rigata is a “Gunganci” word that means “Marin War” which stated about 200 years ago as a display of Naval strength of the Gungu people, where the worriors annually attacked the most dangerous hippopotamus in the area on the River Niger.
