HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES URGES FG TO DEPLOY MORE SECURITY PERSONNEL TO ASKIRA-UBA AND HAWUL LGAs                                                                                              11-02-25

By Sadiq Aminu                                                            The House of Representatives has called on the Federal Government to deploy more security personnel to Askira-Uba and Hawul LGAs to prevent escalating attacks by Boko Haram insurgents in some communities in the local government Areas.

The Green Chamber in a motion moved by the member representing Askira-Uba and Hawul of Borno State DR Midala Balami, the House expressed concern that recent attacks by the Boko Haram has resulted in the tragic loss of lives, destruction of properties, and displacement of innocent residents.
Dr. Balami, explained that violent attacks have persisted despite ongoing security interventions, leaving communities vulnerable to repeated assaults, loss of livelihoods, and severe humanitarian crises
He said there has been inadequate response in terms of security reinforcement and immediate relief support for the affected people, there by worsening the suffering and leaving the victims of the attack in dire need of assistance.

Dr. Balami, pointed out that continuous terrorist attacks in Hawul, Askira-Uba, chibok and other parts of Borno State not only threaten the safety and well-being of residents but also undermine national security and efforts toward peace, stability, and development in the Northeast region.
Adopting the motion the House called on the Federal Government to strengthen counterterrorism strategies in Borno State, improve intelligence gathering, and enhance collaboration between security agencies and local vigilante groups to prevent further insurgent activities in the State.
