commence on February 22, 2025. This transition is a necessary step to streamline our operations, align with the academic calendar, and enhance our ability to process applications efficiently.”

While assuring students who applied for the Loan before the deadline that their applications would be processed, he urged prospective applicants to get set by gathering the necessary documentation and ensure they meet the eligibility criteria as outlined on
the NELFund portal.

Mr. Sawyerr said the sensitization exercise carried out through direct visitations to institutions in regions where the uptake was not impressive and attestation from some beneficiaries had resulted in the increase of applications from students.

“The outcome of that is that we’ve had a very steady growth now plattering out about a thousand applications a day. So, the first set of upkeep money that went out , was really the point at which people believed that this thing was real.”He further said.

The Managing Director of NELFUND stated that the Agency would soon commence a full scale sensitization on the scheme and called for the support of Journalists to propagate it’s activities.

On the threat by the National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS to disrupt the forthcoming Board meeting of the Board over the exclusion of a student representative on the NELFUND Board, Secretary of the Board, Mrs. Funmi Alagbada clarified that only President Bola Tinubu had the prerogative to appoint members of the Board according to the Act establishing the Agency.
